Connect SAM.gov

Learn how to connect SAM.gov with Proposal Connect to automatically import federal contract opportunities.

Connect SAM.gov to Proposal Connect to automatically discover and import federal contract opportunities. Once connected, new solicitations matching your filters appear directly in your pipeline -- no more manual searching across government portals.

Before you start

  • 1 A Proposal Connect account with Admin or Manager role
  • 2 A registered SAM.gov account (Individual or Entity)
  • 3 A SAM.gov Public API key (generated from your SAM.gov profile)

Open Integrations

Click Settings in the sidebar, then select the Integrations tab.

Click Connect SAM.gov

Find the SAM.gov card and click Connect SAM.gov.

Get Your SAM.gov API Key

Log in to SAM.gov, navigate to your profile, and generate a Public API Key under the API Key section. Copy the key -- you will need it in the next step.

API key not appearing? New SAM.gov accounts may take up to 24 hours before the API key section becomes available. Check back later if you just registered.

Enter Your API Key

Paste your SAM.gov API key into the connection dialog in Proposal Connect. Click Validate & Connect to verify the key works.

Configure Opportunity Filters

Set up filters to control which opportunities are imported. You can filter by:

  • NAICS Codes -- target specific industries (e.g., 541512 for Computer Systems Design)
  • Set-Aside Types -- filter by small business, 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB, etc.
  • Notice Types -- Presolicitation, Combined Synopsis/Solicitation, Sources Sought, etc.
  • Place of Performance -- limit to specific states or regions
  • Agencies -- focus on specific federal departments or agencies

You're Connected

That's it. Proposal Connect will start pulling matching opportunities from SAM.gov automatically. New solicitations appear in your pipeline and you can review, analyze, or start proposals directly.

Sync Schedule & Settings

After connecting, fine-tune how and when opportunities are synced.

Sync Frequency

Choose between every hour, every 6 hours (default), or daily.

Auto-Import Attachments

Automatically download solicitation documents -- SOW, RFP, and amendments.

Notifications

Get notified when new opportunities arrive or existing ones are amended.

Manual Sync

Click "Sync Now" at any time to fetch the latest opportunities immediately.

What Gets Imported

For each matching opportunity, Proposal Connect imports the following data.

Opportunity Details

  • Solicitation number and title
  • Contracting agency and office
  • NAICS code and PSC
  • Set-aside type
  • Response deadline
  • Place of performance

Documents & Attachments

  • Statement of Work (SOW)
  • Request for Proposal (RFP)
  • Amendments and modifications
  • Attachments and exhibits
  • Q&A documents
  • Source selection criteria

Managing Your API Key

Keep your SAM.gov integration running smoothly.

Key Rotation

SAM.gov API keys do not expire, but you can regenerate them from your SAM.gov profile at any time. Update the key in Proposal Connect after regenerating.

Rate Limits

The SAM.gov API allows 10 requests per second. Proposal Connect manages rate limiting automatically so you do not need to worry about exceeding limits.

Disconnect

To stop syncing, open the SAM.gov integration card and click Disconnect. Your previously imported opportunities remain in Proposal Connect.
